About Jos Burton.
Jos Burton is passionate about the human figure, looking at the body, and striving to represent figures in two and three dimensions. As a student at the Nottingham School of Art, the life class inspired Jos, and he remains fascinated by the symbiotic relationship between the model and the artist.
After many years of life drawing, Jos began producing figurative sculptures using varied media; carving in stone and wood, and modelling in clay and wax for bronze casting. His approach combines formal academic rigour with a seductively impressionistic treatment.
Jos is an inveterate draftsman; he regularly attends life classes and prefers using live models for his work. Jos lives with his family in Nottingham.
